SCFG films often. We turn out in force and work intensely on every shoot. Our members bring a wide variety of experience and knowledge to each project, and we get our films made by operating with an easy-going professionalism.

Susan Bays


Susan Bays moved to Los Angeles from Houston to see what life was like in the real world. Her writing has been published in various forms including a short story called Footy Men which was featured on usfooty.com and several articles published in Indie Slate magazine. Her professional endeavors include teaching creative writing to students of varying ages through Writers in the Schools, a non-profit organization. Her volunteer efforts have included serving on the Board of Directors of Women in Film/Television Houston and a variety of positions involving her children's educational and extra-curricular activities.

David Mulholland


As a screenwriter, David had a paid assignment to write a screenplay for Upstream Entertainment and has optioned another script. In 2005, his script "Constantine the Great" was a semi-finalist for the Academy's Nicholl's Fellowship in Screenwriting. He is still bitter he did not win, but holds no members of the academy personally responsible. He is managed by Aaron Peters at Peters' Management. Originally from Littleton, CO, he currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Camille and their daughter Amelia.

John Scwhert


After leaving the corporate advertising world in 2004, Schwert produced and directed The After Hours (his first short film) and Among Brothers (his first feature film). Among Brothers is a true story based on the actual events surrounding the 1994 murder of a college senior in Florence, SC. Among Brothers screened at 16 film festivals, then was picked up and released worldwide in August, 2006.

Schwert joined SoCal Film Group in 2006 and directed his first short, a Doritos Crash The Super Bowl XLI spec commercial, with the group in October, 2006. He has also worked in various capacities for Dreamworks, Columbia Pictures, Apatow, MJZ and Pytka Productions. He is currently raising funds for two feature projects while continuing to enjoy his work with the SoCal Film Group.
