DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

"Who's On First? - The Movie is the first SCFG short that wasn't written by a member of the group. SoCaller Steve Barr found Chris Gavaler's clever and witty reimagining of Abbot and Costello's classic sketch on McSweeneys.com, and sent him an email requesting the right to film the script.

When Chris gave permission, Steve cajoled, pleaded, and even went so far as to inveigle SoCaller Danny Grossman to join in as co-Jack-Of-All-Trades.

Shooting took place at the Video Hut in Tujunga, CA, after the store closed for the night at 11:00. The first "Action!" was at midnight, the last "Cut!" at 3:30 in the morning (which explains the glazed eyes of the actors in some shots). Filming went very smoothly - the biggest filming challenge turned out to be trying not to laugh during each take. The cast and crew were able to leave the location by 4:00 am, slightly zonked on coffee and bad pizza."
